The Grove are back to cup action this weekend as they welcome Colne FC in the Buildbase FA Trophy First Qualifying round.

Ryan Austin’s men will be looking to continue an impressive vein of form after their emphatic 5-0 win away to Lincoln United last week.

Colne currently sit 16th in the BetVictor Northern North West League, however are in a similar situation to the Grove as they’ve only played a few league games; having an impressive cup run in the process.

The Lancashire outfit were on the brink of qualifying for the First Round of the FA Cup, but lost 5-0 Gateshead in the fourth qualifying round.

Gaffer Ryan Austin has said he won’t draw comparisons to the Grove’s fixture against Gateshead heading into the clash.

“ It wasn’t a 5-0 game so we won’t draw comparisons, we’ll treat them with respect and look to get through. We’ve had similar campaigns as they’ve not got going in the league like ourselves. I know their manager well and I’m looking forward to the game”

Austin also spoke about shot stopper Dominic Kurasik re-joining the club.

“I’m glad Dom’s back as that now means were lucky to have 2 excellent keepers fighting for the number 1 spot. He’ll be in the squad for the game on Saturday.”

Finally, the Gaffer spoke about how far the team could go in the FA Trophy this year.

“We’ll take it one game at a time and we’ve been lucky to have home draws but we have done well in those games. It’s a competition we take serious and look to go as far as possible”
