Ryan Austin's side draw for the third successive game in an action filled game


Kidsgrove Athletic drew for the third game in a row against 10 men Lincoln united.Lincoln came from 2-0 down to draw in an action filled game.

The opening goal came from the home side in the 14th minute, Ross Davidson played a dangerous ball over to Rumineo Valido-Barai who ran at the Lincoln defenders and slotted ball in to the bottom corner, Lincoln goalkeeper Michael Emery got his fingertips on the ball but was unable to keep Rumineo’s effort out.

A couple of minutes later Lee Cropper doubled Kidsgrove lead. A good run and pass from Anthony Malbon allowed Cropper to tap the ball in from close range.

There was a moment of magic from winger Rumineo who was so close to tripling the lead, after a miss kick from Emery. The Lincoln goalkeeper found himself running back to his line and the ball fell to Rumineo who fired a shot from 40 yards out which hit the woodwork.

The closest the away side got to a goal was at the final minutes of half time, Lincoln striker Matthew Cotton received the ball in the box but his effort was straight at Dave Parton.

There was a 20-minute delay at halftime as a Lineman was unable to officiate the game due to medical reasons.

Lincoln started the second half more confidently and had plenty of possession. The visitors pulled one back in the 60th minute through substitute Paul Grimes, the striker tapped in the ball from close range.

A Couple of minutes after Lincoln goal, the visitors went down to 10 men after Charlie Ward was shown a second yellow card for a late tackle on Alex Lingard. Ward was booked in the first half for a similar offence.

The Visitors equalised in the closing stages of the game, Grimes got his second goal of the game. The ball rebounded after a Parton save which landed near Grimes, it was tight angle but the power behind Grimes’s shot was enough to put it past Parton.

Lincoln almost snatched all three points in added time after Lincoln forward Ryan Oliver’s shot was deflected by Parton and rolled towards the goal but the goalkeepers quick reaction was enough to keep the ball out of the net.

Kidsgrove Athletic’s next game is away at Stafford Rangers FC on Tuesday in the Quarter-finals of the Staffordshire senior cup.
