Five facts about Saturday's hosts: Lincoln United


We head to Lincolnshire this Saturday to face Lincoln United in the BetVictor Northern Premier S/East Division. Here are five facts you may or may not know about the Whites and the City of Lincoln.

- As we've mentioned in our introduction, Lincoln United have the nickname the Whites. They also have another nickname 'The Amateurs.' That is because back in 1938 they were formed as Lincoln Amateurs.

- Lincoln United Player/Assistant Manager Nathan Jarman has an FA Trophy winners medal. He was part of the successful North Ferriby United team who beat Wrexham in 2015 FA Trophy final.

- A lot of people have heard of Lincoln United and even their bigger neighbours in Lincoln City, who play in League One. However, Lincoln has a third team called Lincoln Moorlands Railway. Who up until the 2015/16 season were competing in Northern Counties East League before dropping down to the Lincolnshire Leagues.

- Lincoln is the birthplace for footballers Marlon Beresford, Jamie Clapham, Lee Frecklington and Stoke City star Sam Clucas.

-Lincoln is the home of Lincoln Cathedral. It held the record of being the tallest building in the world between 1311 and 1548 succeeding the Great Pyramids of Giza.
