Here are some facts about our opponents Colne FC.

The Grove face a visit from Lancashire based side Colne this weekend in the Buildbase FA Trophy first round qualifying encounter. In preparation for the game, here are five key facts about our opponents that you may not be aware of.

Colne FC currently play in the BetVictor Northern North West Division where they sit in sixteenth place but they have only played 6 games earning 8 points in the process (2 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses).

“The Red Army” achieved their highest league finish to date in the 2018/19 season when they came fourth in the Evostik West but they lost the playoff semi-finals against Leek Town.

The club was formed in 1996 and played their first competitive game on 17th August of that year in the North West Counties Football League in which they lost 1-0 to Middlewich.

In the summer of 2017 Colne paid a fee for a player for the first time in their history when they bought Hakan Burton from Conference North side Curzon Ashton. In the same summer Alex Curran joined the club after his release from Blackburn Rovers.

The current manager of the club is former player Steve Cunnimgham who has been at the helm since November 2013 when he took over from Nigel Coates who had been in charge of the club for ten years.
