Kidsgrove Athletic welcome Workington AFC to the Novus Stadium this evening for the Emirates FA Cup third-qualifying round replay after the two sides played out a cagey stalemate in the reverse fixture.
With a clash away to National League side, Hartlepool United at stake, Grove will be hoping to overcome their Evo-Stik Premier division opponents at the second time of asking following a battling performance on Saturday, in which both outfits failed to break the deadlock.
Workington sit 20th in the Premier division, with the Cumbria side enduring a tough start to their campaign with just two wins from ten putting them firmly in danger early on.
Grove however have started brightly and remain in the top half, sitting 9th with two games in hand due to their progress in cup competitions. Ryan Austin’s men have lost just once in the league this season and will be buoyed by their impressive form of late.
The Grove remain without several injured players, most notably Chris Baker, Alex Lingard and long-term absentee, Krystian Burzynski. Workington have confirmed they too will rely on the same squad that turned out at Borough Park last weekend, but the Reds could see the reintroduction of left-back Sam Smith.
The visitors have never tasted victory at the Novus Stadium and in their three previous visits have come away with just two draws and a defeat. With both sides eager to progress to face opposition not long out of the Football League, and the prospect of extra-time and penalties, this one will be a lively encounter.
