Newcastle Town are the visitors to the Novus Stadium on Wednesday evening (19:45pm KO) as the Grove lock horns with their local rivals for a spot in the final four of this seasons' Staffordshire Senior Cup.
Despite Valentine's Day looming, there will be no love on show between the two sides as they go head to head for the chance of silverware.
With both sides having found it difficult to string a run of results together in recent weeks, they find themselves marooned in mid-table and will be hoping a win against their bitter rivals and can ignite a strong end to the campaign.
The Castle come in to this fixture having won just one of their last seven matches which sees them lie 14th in the Evo-Stik West, two places and two points behind the Grove who remain 12th despite the weekend's defeat.
Newcastle's proposed fixture last weekend at Ramsbottom was postponed, which means they have not played since a 3-1 defeat to Droylsden in late January. Ex-Grove man, Jordan Cole scored the Castle's solitary goal last time out.
The Grove meanwhile were dealt a sucker-punch blow against promotion chasing Runcorn Linnets as a quickfire double from the home side saw the Blues lose 2-1, squandering a narrow lead they had held until the 87th minute.
Kidsgrove Athletic have a rich history in this competition and have lifted the trophy five times since 2004, while Newcastle have won the competition just once in the 2009-10 season.
Grove booked their place in this week's quarter-final with a brilliant 6-0 win over Tamworth, while Newcastle progressed past a young Walsall side in a 4-2 victory.
The two sides have met once already this season, Boxing Day's clash ended all square as Kyle Diskin's late opener was cancelled out moments later by George Shaw's 93rd minute equaliser. The Grove will face Newcastle for a third time on Easter Monday in the season's penultimate fixture.
