The Grove go up against familiar opposition this weekend as they face Dave Pace’s Droylsden for the second time in the space of a week.
It was a tale of two hat tricks between the two sides last Saturday as captain Anthony Malbon fired Grove into a three-goal lead before the league’s second top scorer Sefton Gonzales led an inspired comeback charge to clinch a point for the visitors.
Ryan Austin’s men will be looking to pick themselves up and dust themselves off after their Staffordshire Senior Cup exit in midweek, whilst that man Gonzales was on hand again to steal a point for Droylsden on Monday night as they drew 1-1 away at Widnes.
Kidsgrove know all too well the threat that Gonzales provides, and the Droylsden talisman now has five goals in his last three. But with Malbon and Kyle Diskin in fine goalscoring fettle in recent weeks, The Grove are certainly not short of goals themselves.
Both teams find themselves marooned in mid-table going into this clash knowing that a win here will provide a solid foundation to build on as they try to secure a top half finish heading into the business end of the season.
